Joffres Lakes Provincal Park

I was lucky enough to visit this place twice last summer. The first time, was right after I attended Pemberton music festival with some friends. The festival was only about 20 minutes away, it almost seemed silly if we didn't check it out. We ended up jumping in for a swim in middle joffres lake, which by the way all these lakes are glacial fed and below freezing temperates. It was quite refreshing though, especially after a 4 day music festival of no showering. We just went for a day hike that time and then returned to Vancouver in the evening. A couple weeks later, after telling all my roommates about how great it was, they decided we should all go on a camping trip up there on the long weekend. So we packed food and gear for 3 nights and made the 2.5 hour drive up north. This time around was a lot more special. Although, 5 out of the 7 of us over packed making the hike up rather treacherous, once we got to the top we found a nice spot over looking upper Joffres lake on a rock surface. The view from our camp site can be seen in the first picture below, can complain getting wake up to that 3 days in a row! We hiked up to the glacier high above our campsite one day, which was the coolest experience. We spend a lot of time hiking around and exploring this magical wilderness, making food around the camp fire, sharing laughs and having a couple drinks. It was by far my best weekend of summer 2016.
